Fastest Electric Car in the World 2022

Fastest Electric Car in the World 2022

If you’re wondering to yourself “What is the fastest electric car in the world?”, it’s worth pointing out that there are two main ways that “fastest” is measured when it comes to cars. They are futuristic, emits zero pollution and most important “blazing fast”. Yes, I’m talking about electric cars. And these are not just wheels with electric motors bolted transverse.

Today, you will greet the fastest electric cars in the world or most probably on the planet. Our future will be electric & everyone is aware of it. Many automobile manufacturers already synced with the “green electric” policy and started manufacturing electric or hybrid cars.

Gone are those days when electric cars were slow and ugly. They were not reliable as gasoline vehicles and people don’t even consider them in their checklist while buying new cars. Time has changed, companies like Tesla and others have launched electric cars with out-of-the-box designs and top-notch technology.

And since then the race has been begun. Many manufacturers have designed and manufactured several types of electric cars. Today, we will look at one of the several types, which is “the fastest electric cars in the world”. Let’s begin!
The first is rating a car by how fast it can accelerate from zero to 100km/h; the second is the maximum speed it can reach while being driven.
In regards to what is the fastest electric production car, it’s the Rimac Nevera, with its top speed of 415km/h
If you’re pondering “Why do electric cars accelerate faster?”, the answer is that electric cars don’t have have gears to shift through, which can cost milliseconds, and they can also achieve instant torque from zero rpm, which lets them accelerate with maximum, and often ferocious, power from a standstill.

Aspark Owl

The fastest EV in the world in terms of zero to 100km/h acceleration (1.89 seconds), the Aspark Owl is a real head-turner – and for the price, it’d want to be. Powered by a compact 64kWh battery and four electric motors with a mammoth combined output of 1480kW, the Owl also has a top speed of 400km/h. If you want one you’ll need both deep pockets and some speed of your own as only 50 went into production and they are likely to be snapped up fast.

Rimac Nevera

The EV formerly known as the Rimac C_Two concept officially began deliveries in mid-2022 with the first customer for the much-hyped hyper none other than German-Finnish former Formula 1 driver Nico Rosberg, who has the first of the 150 Neveras that have gone into production (all have already been sold).

A 120kWh lithium-manganese-nickel battery produces insane outputs of 1427kW/2360Nm, claimed range is 547km and it can rocket from 0-100km/h in a brisk 1.97 seconds.

Pininfarina Battista

Manufactured by the German-based, Italian-born Automobili Pininfarina, the Pininfarina Battista has a 120kWh battery pack supplied by Rimac – yep, the same mob behind the Nevera – that gives it the juice to go from 0-100km/h in just under two seconds. Combined power output is 1400kW/2300Nm, claimed range is 450km and the top speed is 350km/h. Just 150 units of the car have been hand-built at the Pininfarina facility located in Cambiano, Italy.

Deus Vayanne

Austrian start-up Deus has come out of nowhere with the Vayanne hypercar, which, like the Pininfarina Battista, has a somewhat foggy claim to “under two seconds” from zero to 100km/h. What we do know for sure: combined outputs are a beefy 1640kW/2000Nm, top speed is 400km/h and, much like luftballons, there are only 99 of them. The Vayanne will go into production in 2025, so you’ve got yourself a few years to save up for one.

Tesla Model S Plaid

Is there an electric passenger car faster than a Tesla in Australia? Until the Model S Plaid arrives – if it ever does – the answer is yes. That would be the $351,000 Porsche Taycan Turbo S, which goes from 0-100km/h in 2.8 seconds. The Model S Plaid will take the crown if it reaches our shores, since it shaves that time down to 2.1 seconds.

With a staggering top speed of 322km/h and armed with a 760kW electric powertrain, the Model S Plaid is an absolute beast and, Tesla claims, the highest performing sedan ever built, no matter what the motive force. The promised Tesla Roadster, when it (possibly, maybe) arrives in the future, will best the Model S Plaid with zero to 100 km/h in 1.9 seconds and a top speed in excess of 400km/h.

Buckeye Bullet 3

Buckeye Bullet 3 also known as VBB-3 is the fastest electric car in the world. Yes, the electric car has an FIA verified top speed of 549.4 km/h. According to the Venturi, the first intention was to touch more than 435 mph / 700 km/h, which due to some technical issues couldn’t be possible.

The experimental electric car is a result of the collaboration between 3 Ohio State University’ students and Venturi, an electric vehicle manufacturer based in Monaco. Buckeye Bullet 3 is the final version of Buckeye Bullet vehicles. Earlier, the manufacturer has designed BB 1, 2 and 2.5. You won’t find any luxury or gizmos in the Buckeye Bullet 3 as the focus was to build the fastest EV on the planet Earth.

Buckeye Bullet 3 Price

The VBB3 is not made for production series as it’s not a road-legal car. That said, the company has not revealed the overall build cost. It doesn’t matter how deep your pocket is, you can’t buy this. Although, the company has planned to continue the R & D to beat the next word record in the coming years.

Rimac C Two

Rimac C Two is the world’s fastest electric car. An impressive 0-60 mph comes in 1.8 seconds making it the quickest electric car in the world. Just wait for next 0.12 sec and it will hit 100 km/h. According to the manufacturer, the Rimac C Two is capable to reach the max. speed of 412 km/h. Now that’s a supercar territory.

Rimac C Two is another semi-autonomous hyper electric car by Rimac Automobili. An electric car vehicle manufacturer based in the USA. The electric hypercar was first unveiled at Geneva Motor Show 2018. The manufacturer has planned to produce only 150 units with a starting price of €1,795,532.

The manufacturer has pushed the limits to make Rimac C Two one of the fastest electric car in the world. And it can be seen from the specs list above. The electric car carries 4 powerful independent PMMC motors which generate a whopping 1,914 hp of raw power and 2,300 Nm of peak torque. Seriously, this much of power! Power gets transmitted to all-wheel with the help of 4 gearboxes (two independent 2-speed for rear & two independent 1-speed for front).

Powering the motor is a 120 kWh of battery. This Lithium Manganese Nickel battery is shaped in cylindrical and contains 6960 number of cells. Also, the Rimac has fitted 7-independent water cooling system to dissipate the heat from motors and prevent batteries form overheat during charging.

You will need a good bite of brakes to hold this power, right? The manufacturer has fitted 390 mm, 6-piston disc brakes made up of Carbon Ceramic material. That’s not all, Rimac C Two also gets the active wing to support the disc brakes and provide better braking.

Tesla Roadster

According to the Tesla, this is the fastest car they have ever made. This Roadster goes 0-60 mph in just 1.9 second, which is a bit slower than Rimac. In terms of full potential, the Tesla Roadster has a top speed of 400 km/h or 250 mph.

The Roadster is a 4-seater all-electric hypercar and the fastest Tesla by the manufacturer so far. Although, this is not the first Roadster by the manufacturer. The company had launched a Roadster back in 2008 with limited production. According to Elon Musk, CEO of Tesla & Space X, the company has planned to manufacture only 1,000 units as per now. That said, let’s see what drives this hyper electric car, shall we?

Tesla has always been in news for its top-notch innovations and futuristic products. With this new Roadster, they off course have some serious plans. The 2020 Roadster has 3-electric motors that are powering all wheels. Together these motors churn 926 kW / 1.242 hp and a mind-boggling 10,000 Nm of peak torque. Seriously, I haven’t seen this much amount of torque in an electric car.

Power gets transmitted to all wheels via Two independent 2-speed transmission system. One of the biggest reason people don’t prefer electric cars is the driving range. But Tesla always wins this game and provides electric cars with the best driving range. That said, the roadster gets a big 220 kWh of battery capacity giving enough juice to travel without keeping an eye on the screen.

Pininfarina Battista

This electric supercar does wonder in terms of performance. The Pininfarina Battista has a top speed of 349 km/h or 217 mph. Things don’t stop here, it accelerates 0 to 62 mph under 2 seconds, whereas 0 to 186 mph comes in 12 seconds. Hmm, impressive.

The Italian electric car manufacturer is owned by India’ largest SUV maker, Mahindra. That said, the limited production Battista has been manufactured under Pininfarina at their headquarters planted in Cambiano, Italy. Flashing on the past, the company was founded by Battista “Pinin” Farina in 1930. I know you have noticed, the company has named electric supercar to pay tribute to the founder.

Entire Battista is all hand made. The company has planned to manufacturer only 150 units which is way higher to other limited electric cars. According to the Pininfarina, they have locked 40 percent of bookings and planning to manufacture in 2020.

Pininfarina Battista shares 40% of spares from Rimac. In term of power output, the 4 electric motors fitted one at each wheel churns 1,877 hp of power and generates 2,300 Nm of max. torque. This power is sent to all-wheels via the same transmission you have seen in Rimac C Two, which is a set of two independent gearboxes. Rotating the set of motors is 120 kWh Lithium battery pack.

This battery pack helps to provide a good drive range of 451 km or 280 miles. In terms of braking, Battista gets 6-piston, 390 mm Carbon Ceramic brakes and an active rear wing as a helping hand.

NIO EP9

This electric car doesn’t far behind the rivals. It accelerates 0 to 60 mph in just 2.7 whereas Tesla Roadster does in 1.9 seconds. That’s not all, according to the manufacturer EP9 has a top speed of 350 km/h or 217 mph making it one of the quickest as well as the fastest electric cars in the world.

No need to say, NIO EP9 is a pure hyper electric beast. This 2-seater limited production electric car is designed and developed by a Chinese automobile manufacturer. The company is based in China, Shanghai which specialize in the development of Autonomous Vehicles. According to NIO, it took almost 18 months to build this hypercar.

As of now, the manufacturer has sold 2 units of EP9 to the investors of NIO and has plans to manufacturer only 10 units. They have sold first two units in $1.2 million each, so we can expect the price for general public anywhere between $1.2 – 1.5 million.

In mechanical, this Chinese electric car comes fitted with 4 PMMC motors. Here, point to note, each wheel gets its own motor that generates 335.25 hp of power. Combing, 4 electric motors belt out 1,341 of power and a peak torque of 1,480 Nm. Noticeably, EP9 produces 2447 kg of downforce which is almost similar to a Formula racing car. The power gets transferred to all wheels with the help of individual transmission fitted at each wheel.

This is crazy, isn’t? The juice for 4 motors is extracted from the battery placed beneath the chassis which adds 635 kg to the 1,735 kg weight of the NIO EP9.
